Cotton 190/300

Content: 100% cotton / available in bright white or OBA-free natural white

Description: A smooth, 100% cotton fine art paper with excellent ink handling and sharpness. Archival. Acid-free. Lignin-free.

Best Uses: Excellent for photo cards and other full-coverage applications where quality, vibrance, and color gamut are important.

  • 190 = Our favorite choice for 100% cotton art prints; also the best option if you want crisp-folding cotton paper for folded notes, greeting cards, etc.
  • 300 = Our go-to for invitations. This lovely, thick paper is especially good if you’re looking for luxe wedding invitations. Note that this weight is not as good for folded cards (we recommend the 190gsm version instead) because it is so thick. While it will certainly work for folded cards or even tri-fold programs, you may have trouble fitting standard-size cards into their appropriate envelopes when folded, and the crease itself may show the fibers more than on the 190.

Basis Weights:

  • 190 gsm = approx. 90 lb. cover / caliper: 15.5 mil
  • 300 gsm = approx. 111 lb. cover / caliper: 22.5 mil

100 Percent Post-Consumer Recycled

Content: 100% post-consumer recycled paper / available coated (170 gsm) and uncoated (216 gsm)

Description:

  • COATED: Ah, the ever-elusive giclee*-quality 100% post-consumer recycled paper. This paper is, in fact, the first in the industry. Features a super-smooth surface with very few “recycled paper” imperfections. Process chlorine free (PCF). Only available in bright white. Note that this paper is only coated on one side; the back of the paper is uncoated and does show more “recycled paper” imperfections. (*see bottom of page)
  • UNCOATED: A smooth, 100% recycled paper featuring few surface imperfections. Process chlorine free (PCF), FSC certified and made using renewable Green-e certified wind power. Available in bright white (100% post-consumer waste)  This paper is also available in brown kraft color (100% recycled, 30% post-consumer waste).

Best Uses: Excellent for photo cards and other full-coverage applications where quality, vibrance, and color gamut are important.

  • COATED: This paper is considered one-sided, meaning it’s only coated for inkjet printing on one side. The back of the sheet is plain paper and is only suitable for text printing and writing with pen or pencil. This paper is not great for two-sided applications requiring color-match from front to back as the colors will appear differently on the coated and uncoated sides. Excellent for one-sided applications like invitations, posters, etc.
  • UNCOATED: Because this paper is not coated for inkjet printing, it’s not recommended for photo cards. That’s because on this paper, the ink soaks into the paper more, becoming less vibrant and showing paper fibers through the ink. We’ve had very good results, however, with non-photo full-color applications, especially those with their own texture to the graphics. Also excellent for text-driven invitation designs and greeting cards.

Basis Weights:

  • COATED: approx. 170 gsm = 62 lb. cover / caliper: 11 mil
  • UNCOATED: approx. 216 gsm = 80 lb. cover / caliper: unspecified, but thicker than the coated

PLEASE NOTE: The following papers are available by special order: Crane’s lettra, kenaf, sugar cane, and bamboo. These papers will not be listed in the order form.

ALSO NOTE: WE CAN PRINT ON CRANE’S 220 IF YOU WANT TO PROVIDE IT. THE CRANE’S PRINTS BEAUTIFULLY IN OUR PRINTERS, THOUGH IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PHOTOGRAPH PRINTING OR OTHER FULL-COVERAGE APPLICATIONS.

GICLEE DEFINED:

  • Yes. It’s a silly word. It even has a silly root, coming as it does from the french word “gicler” meaning “to squirt, spurt, or spray.” But to us it’s a very serious thing. It’s a term that denotes fade-resistant, fine-art super-vibrant prints made using archival, pigment-based inks and high-quality substrates (that means papers).

Aper and Pink will be closed for a little spell. We've disabled the order form for now. Thank you for understanding, and we hope to be back soon.
